Community-designed hoarding unveiled at our High Street, Wanstead project

Skillcrown is delighted to unveil the completed community-designed hoarding at our High Street, Wanstead development, showcasing the creativity, history and community spirit that make the area so special.

The artwork is the result of a collaborative design process involving local residents, Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing and our project team.  Through a community workshop, local people shared ideas, stories and artwork to create a design that reflects Wanstead's unique identity.  And yes, the famous ‘Space Cows’ even made the final design!

Construction hoardings are often seen as a necessity during development, but projects like this demonstrate how they can become something much more.  By involving the community from the outset, the hoarding has become a colourful celebration of Wanstead that local people can enjoy throughout the construction period.

Beyond the artwork, the project continues to make good progress on site.  The development will transform a previously vacant site into a high-quality four-storey mixed-use development, delivering 24 Shared Ownership homes to help meet local housing needs.  The scheme also includes a children's day nursery at ground floor level, creating an important new community facility for local families.

As part of the wider project, a new landscaped public space is being created to the rear of the development.  Once complete, this area will be handed over to Redbridge Council and incorporated into the much-loved Christchurch Green, providing a lasting improvement to the local environment for residents to enjoy.
