Skillcrown signs deal with Moat on housing development in Catford

Here at Skillcrown, we are delighted to have secured our latest housing project in partnership with longstanding client, Moat Housing. The development will consist of 27 apartments, with the majority for Shared Ownership, and will sit on a site formerly home to Phoebe’s Garden Centre on Penerley Road, Catford.

Work is already underway to deliver five two-and-a-half storey buildings, with a combined total of 10 one-bedroom, 10 two-bedroom and seven three-bedroom self-contained flats. 25 of the apartments will be available for Shared Ownership and two for Affordable Rent, which will be fully adapted wheelchair units. The scheme, costing £5.5m, will come with car parking, cycling provisions as well as beautifully landscaped gardens, due to be completed in June 2020.

Situated a ten minute walk from Catford and Catford Bridge mainline train stations (both in Travelcard Zone 3), the location offers quick access to a number of Central London destinations. Just a stone’s throw from the development is Catford Broadway boasting a range of shops, restaurants and bars, as well as the Broadway Theatre – one of the oldest theatres in South London. Additionally, residents will be able to take a short stroll to Mountsfield Park, which offers fantastic views of the London skyline.

“Along with Kingsbury Consultants, we approached Moat with the proposed project and were pleased to sign a deal all parties were happy with,” said Kevin Clark, Land Director at Skillcrown. “We are currently preparing to clear the site to get the project off the ground and are working closely with Alan Camp Architects to deliver a modern build in the heart of Catford.”

“Having worked with Skillcrown for over a decade, we were delighted that we were their preferred housing association for this project,” said Lisa Shead, Senior Land and New Business Manager at Moat. “We look forward to working with Skillcrown and watching the progress of this development, which will provide more choice for first-time buyers looking to enter the property market.”
