Skillcrown reveal Eltham Town FC redevelopment plans at Public Consultation

On 23 February, the Skillcrown team and Eltham Town FC held a public consultation to present plans for a residential development including a new clubhouse. The five hour drop-in session, gave local residents plenty of time to see the scope of the project and provide feedback, which was extremely positive.

The purpose of the consultation was to get the input from members of the public and local councillors to the initial proposal to provide nine, two-bedroom and 12, three- bedroom houses, plus a new state-of-the-art clubhouse. Representatives from Skillcrown, Eltham Town FC, Savills, MDR architects and planning consultants were on hand to answer any questions and communicate the plans. Residents even got the chance to meet with George Lock, founder of Eltham Town FC.

“There was a fantastic turnout,” said Kevin Clark, Land & Business Director at Skillcrown. “It was important to explain to local people the residential part of the project and how it’s essential for generating income to deliver the new facilities. Ultimately this will safeguard the future of Eltham Town FC. The public really understood this and were overwhelmingly supportive by prospects of the development.”

“Holding the consultation in the existing clubhouse proved very helpful, as local residents were able to see how outdated and dilapidated the current facilities are,” said Brian Baldwin Co-Owner of Eltham Town FC. “It has been a long process to get to this stage, however with the continued support of Skillcrown and now so many local residents, I can’t wait to start laying the foundations for the future of Eltham Town Football Club.”

The feedback from the consultation proved to be very fruitful and moving towards the right direction in helping Eltham Town FC reach its goal of becoming a successful team and attracting new talent. The next step will now be the submission of the planning application.
